There’s an unwritten rule in movies: Don’t shoot the dog. In movies, murder may make a character bad, depending on the circumstances, but harming or killing an animal, especially a dog, makes a character so loathed by the audience that their death is the only acceptable course of action. Because many of us own animals, we understand how strong, and ultimately frail, our pets are, giving us a stronger connection with the movie dog than with the actors that are regularly blown away on screen. Psychologists, comedians, and many of us have noticed this movie phenomena for years, and someone at Enrichment FCU put that knowledge to good work.
The Knoxville, Tennessee credit union raised $1,200 for the purchase of a K-9 ballistic vest, the first of 11 for Knoxville Police Department’s K-9 Unit. The funds were raised in November at Enrichment’s Pet-a-Palooza day in their West Knoxville office, where a K-9 officer’s skills were demonstrated.

Christian – Thanks for your positive comments on our donation. It has gotten a great response in the community and we were on TV again last night encouraging others to donate to the K-9 unit to help protect all 10 of the K-9s. We also have a Pet Pals Account and give community donations for each account that is opened as well as some internal fundraising we do to add to that! Rock on!

Good post, Christian. Smart marketing shows a dynamic and energized organization that probably has a lot of smart people doing exceptional jobs in all areas of the business.
